The final Indy Racing League event took place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 11. Simon Pagenaud won the race. Pagenaud’s been in excellent form. He’s finished in the Top 10 in 5 of the last 6 occasions.
Pagenaud deserves a long look for a driver that could win on Sunday. However, he may not be the ideal pick. The ideal choice among the favorites may be Scott Dixon.
Dixon was on fire at the previous 6 races. He finished thirteenth at the Circuit of Americas. However, beyond the finish, he scored a second in St. Petersburg on March 10. He also finished second in Alabama on April 7 and also next in Indianapolis on May 11. The next place finish in Long Beach on April 14 was likewise great.
In 2018, Dixon finished third at the Indianapolis 500 supporting Will Power and Ed Carpenter. He’s yet to win this season, but he is due. At the chances, he is the favorite to back.

Conor Daly at +5000 also warrants mentioning. Daly will start Sunday’s race eleventh. Who knows if Daly gets to the race away? He could be in a terrific striking place to pull off the upset.

A brief history of the Indianapolis 500
